Zeitgeist and the "Messiahs"

You have to stand in awe of the all time champion of false promises and exaggerated claims, RELIGION. Religion has actually convinced you that there is an invisible man living in the sky that watches everything you do every day and that this invisible man has a list of ten things that he doesn’t want you to do and if you do any of these things he has a special place full of fire and smoke and pain and anguish where he will send you to choke and burn and suffer for the remainder of time… but he loves you?

Judeo-Christianity is one of the primary religions of the world believed by its followers to be the one true religion, which is usually the belief of the followers of a faith. One of the main differences between Christianity and other major religions is the perceived belief that Jesus Christ and his life story is sacred and more importantly, UNIQUE. Jesus is portrayed as the one true messiah, when in truth several other gods, deities and messiahs of other religions recognize the same characteristics as Jesus Christ; several of which greatly precede the formation of the christian faith.
The oldest worshipped deity, is the Sun. Pre-historic humans worshipped the sun because they understood that it was responsible for all life. It brought light in the day, chasing away the dangers and mystery of the night. The sun was responsible for warmth, provisions and security, and it has been argued that most, if not all religious figures are merely copy cats of a "Sun God," which is why several religious figures are called "Son, Alpha, Omega, etc." Several religious symbols subscribe to the "miracle birth," a birth sequence that in truth, is completely astrological.
  • The Great Star, The Star of David, The Bright Star, etc. all are representation of the The Star in the East, which is known as Sirius "the brightest star in the night sky;" Which, on December 24th aligns with the three brightest stars in Orion’s belt which have been traditionally called The Three Kings. These three stars and Sirius all point to the sunrise on the 25th which is why mythology states that the three kings follow the star to locate the birth of the son 'sun', i.e. the sunrise.
  • The birth of the "Sun,” is The Winter Solstice. The virgin Mary is the constellation Virgo, also known as Virgo the Virgin who is usually portrayed with a sheath of wheat is known as the "House of Bread", symbolizing the season of harvest. Bethlehem directly translates to “House of Bread,” so Bethlehem is a reference to the constellation Virgo, a place in the sky not on Earth.
  • December 1st marks the beginning of a period of death and decay. The sun becomes smaller and smaller in the sky as the days progress and was perceived to be dying. This process continues until December 22, after which the sun reaches it's lowest point in the sky. There the sun hovers for 3 days, appearing to no longer descend. The sun resides in the vicinity of the Southern Cross or Crux Constellation and after this time period of three days, on December 25, the sun rises 1 degree to the north, foreshadowing longer days, warmth and spring and so it was set that the sun dies on the cross, was dead for 3 days and was resurrected. The celebration of the resurrection of the sun doesn't occur until the spring equinox or Easter when the day becomes longer than the night or light prevails completely over darkness.

So as previously stated the story of the Miracle birth and a procession of kings following a bright star in the sky to the birth of a son is completely astrological and has been stated several times over history.

Attis of Greece, worshipped around 1200 BC

Krishna of India, worshipped around 900 BC

Dionysus of Greece, worshipped around 500 BC

Mithra of Persia, worshipped around 1200 BC

All follow the script of the Miracle birth and mothers who's names begin with M's.

“The Christian religion is a parody on the worship of the sun in which they put a man called Christ in the place of the sun and paid him the adoration originally paid to the sun”

Jesus is said to have been a child prodigy at age twelve and to have been baptized by a great prophet at 30; which was the beginning of his ministry period. He was followed by twelve disciples who assisted in his performance of miracles and wonders. He was then betrayed by one of his disciples, Judas and was crucified on a cross and resurrected three days after.

Horus was the Egyptian Sun god. His mythological birth and life precedes as follows. Horus was born on December 25, of the virgin Isis Mary. His birth was accompanied by a star in the east, in which 3 kings followed to adorn the new born savior. At the age of 12 he was a child prodigy and at the age of 30 he was baptized by a prophet by the name of Enap and began his ministry. He had 12 disciples that traveled about with him performing miracles. He was known as the truth, the light, god’s anointed son and the lamb of god. He was betrayed by one of his disciples named Tiphon. He was crucified, buried and was resurrected three days after his burial.

The myth of Horus was inscribed in stone through hieroglyphics in or around the year 3000 BC, vastly preceding any formation of a faith remotely similar to that of Christianity. Yet Christians, again accredit this story solely to their messiah. The Egyptian religion was more scientific and astrological than a faith based belief. Many of the characteristics shared by Horus and Jesus can be explain in the stars and other scientific revelations.

  • The 12 disciples are merely the 12 constellations of zodiac in which 'Jesus' (being a representation of the sun) are accompanied by just as the sun is accompanied by the constellations in the heavens. This also explains the age they were both declared a prodigy.
  • As already explained their mothers are the personification of the constellation Virgo, paralleled by the image of a virgin.

Christianity has also adopted symbols that are pagan in original and changed them to fit into their faith. The cross of Christ is not only the Southern Crux in the night sky but also the Cross of the Zodiac. This cross reflects the suns movement through the 12 major constellations which representational of the places traveled by the sun god. It was movement was broken down into the 12 months of the year, the four seasons, the solstices and equinoxes. The cross was not initially a Christian symbol of salvation but a astrological chart.

The basic point I am trying to argue is that Christianity is no miracle religion. Many of the ideals it presents are not new and are actually shared amongst many religions around the world. This is not an attempt to undermine the Christian faith it is only a look into its formation and the beliefs that it claims are so sacred to the faith are actually borrowed symbols from pagan faiths.

Nija,

You have a lot of good information but my only concern is that I am confused with what you are arguing for. I read your blog over a few times and I don't seem to understand. You have so much information and evidence that I am sure supports your argument. The only suggestion is to make your thesis clearer for the students that might have trouble understanding your side of the argument.

You have some interesting points, and as I mentioned in class, you need to have credible sources to back up your information. I want to consider your argument, but I don't know where you are getting all of this information.

Make sure you re-read your posts. There are some misused words and confusing sentences that muddy your argument's focus.

Unlike others, you have a ton of information (once cited) that will support your argument. The only problem is that I'm not sure what your argument is until the last paragraph. The first paragraph is off-putting, as well. You must take into consideration your audience, the group of people you are trying to convince. Try to keep your argument focused. Clarifying your thesis and position on this issue from the beginning will help tremendously.

Religion is a complex subject and becomes even more complicated when merged with scientific facts and beliefs. While constantly met with suspicion, fear, and ignorance, Christianity as well as countless other faiths have survived centuries of criticism. I myself have many doubts on the precision of the bible and its teachings but there is a fine line between complete lack of faith and a lack of faith with an urge to find the truth. Many atheists and agnostists can agree that their lack of belief in a higher being is due the mass discrepancies and lies thrown into the foundations of religion. Man has had a long history of changing, editing, and even eliminating the teachings of the bible. With these facts, it is understandable for one to question the validity of the ethics, morals, and truths that have been preached and taught for thousands of years.

It is only right for one to desire to attempt to expose religions of their false information, lies, and unjust teachings but there is a right and wrong way to go about the exposure. First of all, it makes no sense to fight lies with lies. The intentions of the writers of Zeitgeist were almost on point but the fact that they used incorrect information and stretched the truth in order to form an argument makes them even less of a reliable source than what they were fighting. They may have had some valid points to make but all of their information that built their argument was poorly researched if researched at all. They went about their research aiming only to criticize and destroy the beliefs of others, not to expose the truth. Had they been able to use facts to strengthen their argument, the writers of Zeitgeist would have been successful in opening the eyes of millions maybe even billions of people. Instead, their weak tactics make their movie amature and not worthy of the attention and weight I'm sure they were hoping for.

In order to mediate between my argument and yours I will conclude that there are weaknesses in the Zeitgeist arguments as well as questionable aspects about the stories of the bible. While I do not agree with your argument whatsoever, it only makes sense to acknowledge that the makers of Zeitgeist would not attempt to make such a strong argument if they weren't motivated by the discrepancies and lies that surround religion. There are some things that should be exposed and revealed when it comes to religion and there are many things missing from the bible as well as information that should not be there in the first place. The goal however, should be to research and understand completely every aspect of the religion you wish to follow before you begin to practice it. Without the appropriate research, religion will continue to be the center of and inspiration behind arguments such as this one.
